Privacy Policy
Learn how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.

2.4 Usage Data
We collect interaction and activity information needed to operate the service, troubleshoot issues, and improve user experience.
2.5 Transaction and Billing Data
If paid features are offered, billing is handled by payment partners. We may receive billing status and limited transaction metadata, but not full payment card details.
2.6 Technical & Device Data
Our servers receive certain network and device data during normal operation. We retain this data only as long as needed for security and reliability.
2.7 Health and Fitness Data
If you choose to connect Health Connect (Android) or Apple Health (iOS), RepTalk reads your step count, and your active energy burned if you enable that option, so the Community feature can show your activity on its boards. This is optional, off until you turn it on, and read only. Section 5 describes this in full, including what is uploaded, who can see it, how long it is kept, and how to switch it off.

Health and fitness data is treated separately and more strictly. It is never sold, never shared with data brokers, and never used for advertising. See section 5.5.
5. Health and Fitness Data
RepTalk's Community feature compares your daily step count with other members. This section explains exactly what health data RepTalk accesses, how it is used, who can see it, how long it is kept, and how to switch it off. It covers data read through Health Connect on Android and Apple Health (HealthKit) on iOS.
5.1 Health Data We Access
With your permission, RepTalk reads two kinds of health data and nothing else:
- Steps. Your step count for the day.
- Active energy burned (calories). Read only if you turn on "Share active calories" in the app. This stays off unless you enable it.
With each reading we also receive technical details showing where the measurement came from: the type and label of the recording device (for example "Apple Watch" or your phone model), which platform supplied it (Health Connect or Apple Health), the time of the most recent sensor sample, and your time-zone offset.
On Android, RepTalk can also count steps using your phone's own activity sensor through Google Play services. On both platforms RepTalk reads live motion data so the step number on your home screen moves while you walk. That live number is displayed on your device only and is never uploaded.
RepTalk never writes to Health Connect or Apple Health. Access is read only. RepTalk does not read any other health or fitness category: no heart rate, sleep, weight, body measurements, workouts, distance, location, or medical records.
5.2 Giving and Withdrawing Permission
Health access is optional and stays off until you switch it on. RepTalk explains the request on its own screen before any system permission dialog appears, and reads nothing until you have connected. You can stop at any time:
- In RepTalk, open the You tab and choose Stop sharing under Health sharing. Your rows leave the boards, RepTalk stops reading health data and stops reading in the background, and the health data stored on your device is deleted.
- To revoke the permission itself, use Health Connect settings on Android, or the Health app's privacy settings on iOS.
RepTalk also asks to read in the background so your position on a board stays current without opening the app. You can refuse that, or withdraw it later in the same settings, and the rest of the feature still works.
5.3 What We Upload, and Why
While you are connected, RepTalk sends a summary of each recent day to our servers so that boards, squad challenges, and duels can be scored. Each daily record contains:
- The calendar day, your time-zone offset, and your step total for that day.
- Active energy in calories, only if you have enabled it.
- The type and label of the device that recorded the data, and the platform it came from.
- The time of the most recent sensor sample.
- Integrity information that keeps competition fair: your busiest five-minute window, the part of the total that was typed in by hand rather than measured by a sensor, and a compact minute-by-minute record of step activity across that day.
The integrity information exists for one purpose: to detect step totals that were not produced by real movement, so that a leaderboard cannot be won by manual entry or tampering. Our servers derive a risk assessment and a review status from it. This information is never shown to other members, is held in restricted storage that ordinary accounts cannot read, and is used for no other purpose.
5.4 What Other People Can See
The Community feature is social, so some of this data is shown to other RepTalk members. You control it by choosing whether to connect health access at all. While you are connected:
- Members of squads you belong to see your nickname, your step count for the day (and calories, if you share them), your rank, the type and label of your recording device, and whether an entry is under review. They can also see that you recorded steps in the last few minutes, shown as a "moving now" signal.
- The global board shows your nickname, step count, rank, and device label to other signed-in members ranked near you, including people who are not in your squads and do not know you.
- An opponent in a duel sees your step count for each day of that contest.
- If you turn on "Let friends challenge me", other members can find you by searching your nickname, and can see your average weekly step count before challenging you.
Boards are visible to signed-in RepTalk members only. They are not published on the open internet and are not visible to anyone without an account. Your email address and real name are never shown on a board: other members see the nickname you choose.
5.5 Health Data and Third Parties
We do not sell health data and we do not share it with data brokers.
- Never used for advertising. Health data is never transferred to advertising platforms, never used for personalised or interest-based advertising, and is never shared with any advertising, attribution, or measurement partner.
- Never used for analytics profiling. Our product analytics and crash reporting tools do not receive your step counts, your calorie values, or the minute-by-minute record. They receive only non-identifying facts, such as which platform supplied the data, whether a permission was granted, and whether an entry was flagged for review.
- Never used for credit, insurance, or employment. Health data is never transferred or used to determine credit-worthiness, or for lending, insurance, or employment decisions.
- Infrastructure and notifications. Health data is stored on our hosting provider's infrastructure, which processes it only on our instructions. Notifications about a squad or a duel can mention step figures in their text, and are delivered through the messaging services operated by Google and Apple.
5.6 How Long We Keep It, and How to Delete It
- On our servers: each daily health record, and the integrity information attached to it, is deleted automatically 42 days after the day it describes.
- On your device: RepTalk keeps at most the last 3 days of health records locally and clears older ones automatically.
- On Android: step records that Google Play services collects for RepTalk are held by that service on your phone for up to 10 days.
- Stop sharing deletes the health data held on your device, clears your most recent days from the boards, and stops further reading. Days recorded before that are removed by the automatic 42 day deletion.
- Deleting your account permanently removes your health records, the integrity information, your board entries, squad memberships, and duel history. You can delete your account in the app, or request deletion at reptalkapp.com/delete-account.
Health data is encrypted in transit and protected at rest, as described in section 8.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction you may have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete your account and associated personal data
To exercise these rights, contact us at support@reptalkapp.com. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe as required by law.
For health and fitness data specifically, you can withdraw consent and delete the data at any time from inside the app, without contacting us. Section 5.2 and section 5.6 explain how.
7. Children's Privacy
Our services are not directed at children under 13 (or higher age thresholds where required by local law). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us immediately.
8. Data Security
- All data in transit is encrypted with TLS 1.2 or higher.
- Data at rest is protected by industry-standard safeguards.
- Access controls and least-privilege principles are used to restrict internal data access.
- Payment details are handled by authorised payment partners.
- Security controls are reviewed periodically.
Despite these measures, no system is 100% secure. We will notify affected users of any breach as required by applicable law.
